Sunday School at St.James is a fun, welcoming, and safe place for kids to develop their own faith!
Children enter the sanctuary and sit with their family for the beginning of the church service at 10:00 AM. Following a time of interactive storytelling with our Minister, Patricia James, the children and their teachers meet together downstairs. All the children join together in one classroom for an opening prayer and candle lighting before heading off to one of two classrooms for children aged 3 to 7 and 8 to 12.
We thank our Sunday school teachers Pat Dryden, Clasina Brands, Shirley King, Roberta Noble, Lisa Spence and Linda Winson for their commitment to our program. We hear from our children, and we see in their faces, the enjoyment and value of our teachers' ministry to our kids.
Sunday School Curriculum:
We use the Best of Whole People of God Online, a Lectionary-based Sunday school curriculum that helps link worship and the lesson materials that are used in the Sunday school classes.
We have a safe and well-equipped nursery for infants. It is available to parents who would like the option of leaving their infant child in the care of a responsible adult after the Minister’s time with the children upstairs. If you would like your child to have care during the church service, please just ask an usher for their assistance with the arrangements.
Children, infant to 3, are welcome to remain upstairs where they might feel more secure. Children's activity bags are in the Narthex for parents to bring into the sanctuary, and a craft table is available in the sanctuary for young ones to use. Adult supervision is shared.
