St. James Choir
St. James ChoirKaren Kelly, organist, pianist and exuberant choir leader, shares her sincere appreciation of music and life in general with the members of the choir. Kay (Gibbons) Wice Boer, as lead contralto, is a living testimony to the faithfulness exhibited by all choir members as she has been active in the St James Choir for over 60 years.

We also have a new Children's Choir, and the congregation is enjoying their singing along with their performances using the bells!

Do you enjoy singing? Do you like to use your music abilities to sing praises to the Holy Spirit?

The St. James Choir meets Thursday afternoon at 2:00 for choir practice. Come out and see what this fun group or people are doing!

But our music ministry is not confined to the uses of worship. We celebrate God’s presence not only in the sacred hymnody and song writing of the church, but also in the musical gifts of all in our community. In fact, our sanctuary is used for recitals and has been the venue for gatherings of local talent which has been uplifting for all.

Musical Instruments
Currently an electronic Lowery organ leads the choir and congregation in many hymns. Acquired in 2007, a Knabe Grand Piano (6’4”) graces the west side of our sanctuary, complete with piano cover and humidifier. Bonnie Moffat, an accomplished pianist, when available combines talents with Karen on the organ.

"The new grand piano is a great addition to St James, allowing interesting pieces to be featured." - Lloyd Geake

“Piano music makes my soul soar but people respond to all styles of music and at St James we try to have all styles.”(drums, guitar, recorder, trumpet) - Karen Kelly

The more modern inclusive language hymnbook “Voices United” was introduced in 1996 and in 2006, a supplemental book “More Voices” was added, allowing St James congregation plenty of opportunity to learn new tunes and hymns.
